 The present day services of the Chartwell Solid Waste Group were started by a small start-up company in Alexandria, Virginiawhich was named Chartwell Information Publishers. The entrepreneurs who started the Chartwell Information Publishers are responsible for initiating some of Chartwell’s current services; specifically the Chartwell Solid Waste Digest and what was then known as the Chartwell Solid Waste Atlas & Directory were both started in the early 1990s.
In the 1990s, Chartwell Solid Waste Digest provided a combination of waste business news and original research on gate rates and tipping fees across the country. As a result of the research on gate rates (also known as tipping fees) for the Chartwell Solid Waste Digest, Chartwell developed a historical record of the changes in gate rates.
Today, the Chartwell Solid Waste Digest continues to provide waste business community with the latest trends in gate rates at municipal solid waste facilities as well construction and demolition waste facilities.
The other key service was a printed publication, the Chartwell Solid Waste Atlas & Directory. The Chartwell Solid Waste Atlas & Directory was originally focused on municipal solid waste facilities. With the recent acquisition of Chartwell Information Publisher's assets (2005) by The Envirobiz Group Inc. has come a conversion of the printed directed to an online directory. In addition, the directory has been expanded into construction and demolition waste. The directories are now known as the Chartwell Municipal Solid Waste Facility Directory and the Chartwell Construction and Demolition Waste Facility Directory.
In the early years of Chartwell Information Publishers, as evidence by the floppy disk in its corporate logo, computing capabilities were far more limited than today. Modern mapping and database software has made it possible for our Chartwell Solid Waste Group to combine its directory and proprietary gate rate database into useful market radius reports which illustrate the differences in pricing in a target market. Since purchasing the assets of Chartwell Information Publishers from Environmental Business International in August 2005, The Envirobiz Group Inc. has move forward with a more robust program to survey solid waste facilities and changed the Chartwell Solid Waste Digest's scope to more emphasis on providing market.
