MSW Landfill Gate Rate/Tipping Fee

Description: This Chartwell service provides current and/or past gate rates; also know as tipping fees, at individual municipal solid waste facilities in the United States. This is the premier source for 100 mile radius studies, state wide, and interstate market data on current and past gate rates or tipping fees at municipal solid waste landfills.

Background: In the early 1990s, Chartwell Information Publishers began collecting and publishing the results of surveys of gate rate charged at municipal solid waste facilities. In the fall of 2005, it was determined that enhanced annual survey effort was needed to provide a more representative cross-section of gate rates across the United States. Chartwell provides much more detailed examination of state wide and interstate gate rates and trends than anytime in its history.

Scoping Options for Regional Gate Rate/Tipping Fees
1. One Hundred Mile Radius Study: Current MSW Gate Rates/Tipping Fees
The most basic report package, popular with customers, is “The Hundred Mile Market Radius Report” The report package consists of two basic elements;
  • a map showing the location of MSW facilities within the 100 mile radius
  • a Microsoft Excel Worksheet with facility information
The standard worksheet contains contact information for each facility on the map and the municipal solid waste gates rates from the most recent Chartwell facility survey. In almost all cases, the gate rates provided on the Excel file will have been from survey work done within the past twelve months. The cost of this basic 100 Mile MSW Market Radius Report is $500 per report.

The Hundred Mile Market Radius Map is provided as a PDF file. The scale of the map can be ordered as either wall poster size or smaller report scale. The data in the Microsoft Excel Worksheet file is matched to the Map with a facility map number. The worksheet can be sorted (by the customer) through the Microsoft Excel software’s sorting functions.

2. Statewide or Interstate Regional Coverage: Current MSW Gate Rates/Tipping Fees
The state wide and interstate regional studies are basically an increase in geographical coverage from the one hundred mile radius.  The standard worksheet is the same as provided in The One Hundred Mile Radius Study. The mapping becomes more customized to the specific needs of the customer. Prices based on scope of extended coverage.

Gate Rate/Tipping Rates Changes at Individual Facilities – 2001 to Present

This option provides stakeholders with gate rate changes that have occurred between the most recent survey effort and the year 2001.  In as much as many facilities do not change their pricing on an annual basis, this option provides a different perspective of gate rate changes than our year to previous year comparison. The gate rates are provided in the same easy to use format so that the customer can sort the data as needed. This enhanced report can be provided for individual landfills within the basic one hundred mile radius, state wide, and interstate region. Customer interested in overall state average and median gate rate/tipping gate trends between the recent year and 2000 should consider the Chartwell Special Reports on State Municipal Solid Waste Gate Rates/Tipping Fees.

Report: The map provided as part of this report is provided as a PDF file which can be enlarged to wall map size for printing. The individual facility gate rates or tipping fees are provided in a Microsoft Excel format.
